Our Objectives

A major theme for improving radiation therapy is dose conformation, the matching of the high dose irradiated volume to the target volume as closely as possible while avoiding normal tissues.  Each of our research projects aims at this goal. My two main thrusts of research interest are on the development and the clinical integration of 1) Dose-Guided Radiation Therapy (DGRT) with Megavoltage Cone-Beam CT (MVCBCT) for patient verification, organ motion and tumor evolution studies during cancer irradiation and 2) an Inverse Planning (IPSA) for the dose distribution optimization and Relative Biological Effectiveness (RBE) of image-guided High Dose-Rate (HDR) and Permanent Prostate Implant (PPI) Brachytherapy.
