EPI2k8 - Electronic Portal Imaging & Positioning Devices

Foreword

WELCOME TO EPI2K8

It is with great pleasure that the local organizing committee joins me in inviting you to San Francisco to attend the 10th International Electronic Portal Imaging and Positioning Devices Workshop – EPI2K8 on May 20-22nd, 2008.  This is the second time the EPI-Workshop comes to San Francisco. You might remember that it was held in conjunction with the ASTRO meeting in 1994!  Time passes and technologies evolve.  It has never been so true of the last decade. This is why we have extended the topics from EPID to all positioning devices.

We will have invited speakers, refresher courses, proffered papers and posters to address the following topics:

  • Positioning with EPID
  • Dosimetric properties and applications of EPID
  • New developments with CT on board
  • Clinical applications with CT on board
  • New technologies for patient positioning
  • 2D, 3D, 4D and 5D imaging, a matter of perspective
  • Image quality, performance evaluation and system QA

The EPI2K8 will be twinned to our UCSF Annual Course (May 22-24th, 2008). Both co-exist independently. This year's annual course focus will be on combined modalities for the treatment of cancers. We hope this technical and clinical blend will encourage you to attend both meetings. And don’t forget to reserve some time off to enjoy beautiful San Francisco and the Bay Area.  Pssst,… the weather in the area is at its best in May!
