Meet Dr. Liu
I am driven to deliver exceptional patient care by advancing cutting-edge technologies and fostering education.
Dr. Xiaoyu Liu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UCSF. She earned a PhD in Biomedical Physics from UCLA and is an ABR board-certified clinical medical physicist. During her 15 years at Kaiser Permanente, she gained extensive clinical experience and specialized in Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), LDR/HDR brachytherapy, and linear accelerator commissioning, including Varian IX, TrueBeam, and Halcyon systems. With a diverse background spanning Medical Physics, Computer Science, and Biomedical Electrical Engineering, Dr. Liu is passionate about multidisciplinary collaboration. Her current research focuses on the impact of COVID-19 on clinical practice and physicist well-being, as well as standardizing multi-institution Halcyon commissioning and optimizing treatment planning. Dr. Liu serves as Vice Chair of the CAMPEP Education Committee and Chair of AAPM Task Group 432. She is deeply committed to promoting education and professional development within the medical physics community.
