Katelyn Hasse, PhD

Meet Dr. Hasse

I am motivated to improve the lives of patients and families today and impact many more in the future

Dr. Hasse is the Director of the Medical Physics Residency Program. She is an Assistant Professor at the UCSF Department of Radiation Oncology. She received her bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville before starting her Ph.D. in Medical Physics from the University of California, Los Angeles. During this time, her research focused on obtaining patient-specific pulmonary elasticity distributions from 4DCT scans and utilizing the elastographic information for retrospective functional avoidance treatment planning studies. Subsequently, she completed her Therapeutic Medical Physics Residency at the University of California, San Francisco, where she worked on clinical projects involving automating data analysis for commissioning and quality assurance tasks and using predictive data-driven models to inform patient-specific quality assurance processes. Her clinical interests range from treatment planning and motion management to functional imaging biomarkers, and she also has a strong interest in optimizing clinical processes and efficiency.
