Meet Dr. Cao

It is a privilege to collaborate with a talented team at UCSF to advance radiotherapy through innovation and cutting-edge technologies. I am deeply passionate about education and dedicated to training the next generation of radiation oncology professionals, ensuring the best outcomes for our patients.

Dr. Minsong Cao is a Professor and Director of Dosimetry in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UCSF. Prior to his current role, Dr. Cao served as Vice Chair of Academic Mission Development and Director of the Medical Physics Residency Training Program at UCLA. Dr. Cao’s research focuses on advancing the field of radiation oncology, with expertise in image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), MRI-guided radiotherapy (MRgRT), adaptive treatment planning (ART) and translational clinical trial development. He has authored over 140 journal articles and has been invited to present at numerous national and international meetings. Dr. Cao has served in many capacities within national and international organizations. In recognition of his significant contributions to medical physics, he was elected a Fellow of the AAPM in 2019.
