Letter from the Chairman

Let me personally welcome you to the website for the Department of Radiation Oncology at UCSF! I am very proud to be a part of this Department. If you come to know us, I believe you will understand why. We have and will continue to have one of the most technologically sophisticated departments in the world. More importantly we pride ourselves on our ability to use this technology appropriately. Our mission includes excellence in teaching, research and most importantly patient care. We are committed to educating our residents and fellows to be future leaders in radiation oncology and we have an outstanding track record in this regard. Some of the most important national studies in radiation oncology have been conducted here, and we continue to seek new approaches proven to benefit our patients. Our faculty are consistently considered to be among the best in the country and are regularly invited as expert speakers at national and local conferences. We are here because we want to be. My commitment to you is that we will do our best for you, always. If you or a loved one were to decide to undergo radiotherapy here, you will have selected one of the nation's premier departments for therapeutic radiation. -Mack Roach, III, MD Professor and Chairman
